His popular restaurant, Gertrude's, has been thriving at the Baltimore Museum of Art since 1998. John has written three popular cookbooks and hosted two television series on the cuisine of the region.

Producer's Notes

This was a difficult show to shoot! Trying to tape in the crowded and noisy confines of Cross St. Market and Camden Yards was not an easy challenge. We almost were denied access to Oriole Park on our scheduled day of taping, but folks in the Baltimore Orioles front office saved the day. Shooting the recipes was a relative breeze: Sen. Mikulski was a riot to behold, making the crew laugh the entire time; Marianne, a novice in front of the cameras, blew us all away with her natural on-camera demeanor. These two recipes are among our favorites.
