The "Culinary Ambassador of the Chesapeake Bay,"John Shields is a chef, a television host and an author. His popular restaurant, Gertrude's, has been thriving at the Baltimore Museum of Art since 1998. John has written three popular cookbooks and hosted two television series on the cuisine of the region.

Chesapeake Bay Cooking with John Shields

Chesapeake Bay Cooking with John Shields is not only a fantastic cookbook, it was a public television series as well! John traveled around the Chesapeake Bay, collected family recipes from colorful people, and invited them to cook on his show. The result: Chesapeake Bay Cooking with John Shields. Traveling by car, boat, and golf carts, the crew of CBC shot everything on location around the Bay. They set up camp in people's homes, restaurant kitchens and dining rooms, even private backyards. Why spend so much time and expense? John says it best: "If you want to know the food of the Chesapeake Bay region, you have to meet the people and see how they live."
